Grief Stages

As many do, I suffered from immense burnout after graduating from my undergraduate BFA program. I avoided painting for two years. Slowly but surely I started to get back in touch with a painting practice, then COVID-19 hit.

Quarantine allowed me to be at home and fall in love with painting again. I started 14 new pieces in that time. From those I was able to start to piece together a body of work I could expand into my first solo show.

The show Grief Stages consists of 14 pieces, all self portraits excluding my face from the viewer. Born of a time of isolation, my inaugural solo show was adorned with many iterations of me withholding any true vulnerability from the viewer.

The show was a huge success for me, I am left with just one piece for my archives. Very excited to see what kinds of self portraits I make as my painting practice continues.
